7Technique of the week

From the film room

Snap, spin, score: the go-behind

  1. Snap to the front headlock. Snap the head below the hips, drop your own hips low, and get your chest on the opponent’s back.
  2. Block the elbow. Control the far elbow so the opponent can’t post up or shoot back in.
  3. Spin and stay chest-to-back. Circle behind with your hips low and your weight on the opponent’s back.
  4. Last 20 seconds: in a late scramble, go behind and finish to the mat. Points on the edge count.

9Coach’s corner

Wolves families, thank you for filming from the stands. Every video you send makes these reports sharper.

This week in practice we’re drilling the last 20 seconds of every period: hand fighting, staying square on the edge, and scoring right back after we give up points.

Save the date: the season banquet is Wednesday, March 10, at 5:30 PM. Varsity, Women’s and JV wrestlers and their families are invited.

Run with the pack, Wolves!
